The biggest Oktoberfest event Glasgow has seen yet is due to arrive a little bit earlier than you probably think this year and we can’t wait to get stuck in to the festivities.
Starting this year on the 1st September, the annual celebration of Bavaria and beer is set to commence at a brand new venue and we can’t wait to grab a stein. Based for the first time at SWG3’s brand new Galvanizers yard with its 1000 person capacity and 400 seats, this year’s Oktoberfest is set to be the best yet.
Some 8,000 litres of German bier and cider, including Löwenbräu, the Oktoberfest classic, will be served on the first weekend of September alongside traditional Bavarian music and food.
The German classic, Bratwurst served fresh from the grill will be up for grabs with all the traditional trimmings, as well as freshly baked pretzels and the not-so-traditional vegetarian options available too.
And of course, it had to go without saying that you can expect your drinks to be accompanied with a bit of a dance too – by the end of the night on the table most likely- as a typical German Oompah band lead the way with the timeless Ein Prosit.
The event manager for Mega Events, Rachel Pedreschi, said: “This will be an absolutely incredible night out in Glasgow. There is something so very special and traditional about an Oktoberfest celebration that you just can’t deny.
“This is our first year in Scotland, so we really want to recreate the exact feeling of walking into the main beer halls in Munich, by making sure all the details are there. The ceilings will be completely draped and rows and rows of wooden tables will surround the stage.
“We are expecting to sell out on both our nights, with hundreds of Oktobians flooding SWG3 in all their Bavarian glory. I just can’t imagine a more perfect way to celebrate Oktoberfest.
“We are bringing out all the stops for this one – from genuine bratwurst to our staff in full costume, it will be a very special night.”
So then it seems like it’s time to grab yourself the lederhosen and dirndl skirts, and join the fun at this event that is surely not to be missed. Tickets for the upcoming Oktoberfest are on sale now for £18, and whole tables can be reserved for £50.
